Heaven

Well shit.

I forgot to deactivate the ability to pay for our albums when our old band called it quits, and upon logging into our bandcamp for the first time in a long time I noticed that a decent little handful of people actually paid for the album we never finished? Which I guess means we're half-ass obligated to finish it.

Thanks a lot assholes...

Seriously though, this actually did happen completely by mistake, but after 16 years I'm not gonna end our run as one of those bands that take in (even a small amount of) money for an album that doesn't get released.

So we're gonna do something. Whether or not anyone likes that something, listens, or gives a fuck? Eh, that's honestly not our problem. Hell, maybe this whole dumb experience will "revitalize" us and we'll decide to keep toiling in obscurity?

Who knows.

Only thing we know for semi-certain is that all the rest of the songs on the album are gonna have full-on drums/ guitar/ vox and kinda tap into a bit of a SWANS "Greed"/ Cindytalk "Camouflage Heart" vibe because if I'm gonna do something under the old name at this point that's what it's gonna be.

Oh yeah, we've already started recording so you should be gleefully bitching about how bad this album sucks on your dickhead internet message boards in no time.

Tacoma Narrows Bridge Disaster - Some post rock thing that came up randomly as I was doing something else, but kinda caught my attention. Does the drifty, wandering, quiet/ loud melodic thing that pretty much all of these bands do, but there are some cool, rolling, "tribal-ish" drum parts, and a few moments of really neat arpeggiated synth so I wound up really enjoying this.

-

Ringworm - I dunno what it is about Ringworm but I've been a big fan since I first heard "Birth is Pain" back in 2001. It's actually kind of weird because a solid 9/10 of the bands that do a similar thing don't do much for me at all, but something about Ringworm sounds so unhinged and fucking angry that it just works...

-

The Banner - The Banner are another one where I'm not into a whole lot of stuff that sounds like them but what they do just fucking WORKS for me. Love, love, LOVE, this album... Especially "Circle of Salt" and "Unbaptized." Hell, even the couple of weird electro-goth tracks work better than they have any right to. Whole thing sounds despondent and fucking PISSED.

-

Devoidov - Dissonant sludgy hardcore equal parts Ire and Breach with maybe just a hint of Starkweather when the singer slips into the occasional dead-eyed melodic croon. It's a real goddamn shame that these guys only managed this one album because this shit is absolutely crushing and I really could have done with a whole lot lot more of it.

-

Crawlspace - Straight up, if meaningless genre tags like "metalcore" or "deathcore"(in the late 90's/ early 00's sense of the word) cause you to shy away from one of the heaviest albums ever recorded because you're afraid they'll make you "contact-uncool" that's your problem not mine... This shit sounds like Morser and Bolt Thrower had a kid that was raised by Arkangel.

SWANS - At the end of the day it all comes back to this.
